Homestyle Biscuits

2 c. flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tbsp. sugar
1/3 c. butter
1 c. buttermilk


Preheat oven to 425F. Grease cookie sheet. In a mixing bowl combine flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. With pastry blender cut in butter till peices are the size of small peas. Make a well in center of mixture. Pour buttermilk in all at once. Mix with fork only until most of the flour mixture is moistened (don't over do it). Turn dough out onto lightly floured surface and knead 4 or 5 times by simply folding dough over and pushing down slightly. Cut into squares with a knife or use a circle cutter. Place biscuits on baking sheet and cook approx. 15 min.

Biscuits are best eaten the same day.
